Penn Center For Biomedical Imaging

Translating Clinical Radiology Research from Bench to Bedside

The Center for Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy (CAMRIS) at the University of Pennsylvania Health Systems (UPHS) was established in 2002, in response to a rapidly growing Magnetic Resonance (MR) research environment. Internal radiology groups, outside researchers, and pharmaceutical companies utilize MR scanners and the expertise of the MR Department for an array of research endeavors. The demand for CAMRIS services has become so great that a systematic, monitored, service oriented approach to providing these services is necessary.

The mission of CAMRIS is to oversee routine operations of MR imaging and spectroscopy at the University of Pennsylvania, provide information regarding the safe and efficient use of these technologies to the research community, establish policies and procedures governing the application and use of these technologies in research, and ensure that CAMRIS operates in compliance with established policies and procedures and Federal regulations. CAMRIS is dedicated to maintaining a safe and effective research environment.
